Balinese architecture is traditionally open, with no real need for heating except at high altitudes, and liberal use of the abundant timbers available in the region. The UDesign architects took full advantage of their inside/outside no-difference architectural philosophy to create a relatively small super-luxury villa that owes as much to its location as it does to the classic UDesign architectural style. The inspiration for the design came from the Bali look: natural materials such as wood, stone and abundant water. The plot had no exterior views, so the villa was designed to have views on the inside – by creating its own world made from natural materials, surrounded by lush vegetation. Privacy is a key element of the design, and although somewhat smaller in size than most of the villas we design, it makes for a total entity that looks and feels much bigger than it actually is.
